When his mother was pregnant with Tom Nam, she wanted to have an abortion because her husband left her for good.
She finally contacted the Duang Prateep Foundation (DPF) in Chumpon to seek help.
DPF suggested that she get in touch with the Baan Than Namchai (BNC). She met Khun Rotjana, the chairperson of BNC. (see the left photo of Khun Rotjana with Tom Nam.) and told her in the face, “if you don’t take care of the baby, I will abort him”. BNC decided to save the baby.
Ton Nam was born. 15 days later, her mother brought him to the orphanage and walk away.
He had the mother’s warmth for just 15 days. But Ton Nam is healthy and lives on well. He will grow up with the bright future.
Now he’s 5 years old. He will ask other people about his parents. We will have to find a way to tell him eventually. But now, it is best to keep the truth from him.
‘I believe he can see the blue sky after the rain because I feel I have a new life after the tsunami.’
